CLARKE COUNTY - Firefighters are still on the scene at J and J Chemical plant on Olympic Drive. The plant caught fire just after midnight Wednesday, and there are still a few hotspots left.
Chuck Gulley is the Emergency Manager Coordinator for the Athens-Clarke County fire department.
He said most of the hotspots were taken care of early this morning, but he said, "Then around 8 o'clock this morning there were still some puffs of smoke."
The Athens-Clarke County Fire Prevention Bureau is working with the state Fire Marshal's Office on investigating the cause and origin.
Gulley is hoping that all of the hotspots will be put out today. Firefighters will remain at the plant until the fire is completely out.
