Obit: Former Hall Commission Chairman Hugh Turk

HALL COUNTY - Former Hall County Commission Chairman Hugh K. Turk died today at age 85. Turk served on what was then the Hall County Commission of Roads and Revenue from 1957 to 1960 but he remained involved in local government for many years. 

FROM THE HALL COUNTY COMMISSION:

The Hall County Board of Commissioners would like to honor the public contributions of former commission chairman Hugh K. Turk, who died today at the age of 85. Mr. Turk served on the Commission, then called the Hall County Commission of Roads and Revenue, from 1957-1960.

Though advanced in age, Mr. Turk was a frequent visitor to the Commission office and stayed involved in his local government until he was unable to drive. He lived most of his life in Hall County and was dedicated to the betterment of his community.

“Hugh K. knew people all over the county and had a great rapport with people of all walks of life,” said Chairman Tom Oliver. “He will be missed by Hall County.”

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. July 31 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Stacy Phillips and the Rev. Clack Stubbs will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Carpenter officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home on July 30 from 5 - 8 p.m.
